Lawrence Alvarez - Chairman of the Board, President
Lawrence is the President of IRBE. Lawrence grew up in Zimbabwe, has lived in Botswana, Canada, South Africa and Argentina, and has travelled extensively through Southern Africa. Lawrence's passion lies in social interactions and relationship building, and has used this skill to build experience at George Brown College in Toronto. He has written successful proposals and delivered projects for the Ministry of Education, The Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities, Daily Bread Food Bank, and the City of Toronto.
Dash Kamal - Secretary
Dash is the Corporate Secretary of IRBE. Dash graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours in Applied Science and Engineering. After working for five years as a performance engineer at jet engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney Canada, Dash went to Sri Lanka where he spent the next year developing anti-corruption policies with NGO Transparency International. Dash has now returned to Canada and has spent the last three years managing social housing co-operatives. Dash is interested in building an urban intentional community for transitioning to a post fossil-fuel society.
YP Leung - Treasurer
YP is the treasurer of IRBE. YP graduated from Waterloo with an honours degree in science. In the past YP has worked as a software consultant, a property manager, and an entrepreneur. After some personal successes, she now devotes her time to doing work that genuinely impassions her and inspires her. She hopes that her work gives knowledge, happiness and possibilities to everyone she meets.
Ryan Dyment, CA - Board Member, Executive Director
Ryan is the Executive Director of IRBE. Ryan has a Bachelor of Commerce degree with an Honors in Accounting from McGill University and spent 6 years working in audit with KPMG, an international accounting firm. Wanting to make more of a direct contribution to society, Ryan left KPMG and joined SickKids Hospital as a Finance Manager before founding IRBE. Ryan has travelled extensively to over 45 countries and is active in many community groups focusing on economic and environmental sustainability.
Victoria Buchy - Board Member
Victoria Buchy is honored to be a member of the IRBE Board and to be working with an incredible team of inspiring colleagues and friends. Since discovering the RBE concept in 2010, many new realms of the human experience have opened up in her life, particularly about love, fear, responsibility, and community--and especially, the joy of giving Free Hugs. She works to share these new possibilities with others in a respectful and compassionate way. Victoria holds a degree in Music Administration and a Certificate in Writing from Western University. She studies vocal music and works in the non-profit arts and cultural sector in Toronto.
